My name is Jessica Winterringer, I was born in Kansas City, Ks. Our family moved around alot when I was a child and then finally I landed in St. Joseph, Mo in 2000 and have lived here since. I graduated from Central High School in 2005. I have always known that I enjoy helping others so I began my nursing career by doing a few in-home healthcare jobs and graduated from Vatterott College in 2007 with a Medical Office Assistant Certificate. I have decided to attend Missouri Western State University to further my education and earn my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Im not sure exactly what position I would like to hold so I am thankful that there are many different types of jobs you could do with a Nursing degree.
A little bit about myself: I have come from a broken home as a child and have tried to make something out of nothing. Its not embarassing to me at all, I realized through the years its what made me who I am. I have been on my own since I was 15 yrs old and finished up high school on my own and began College on my own to further my education. I have a little boy who will be two this month and I also take care of my brother who is 20 yrs old and is intellectually and physically disabled. I am attending school full-time and I work part-time. Needles to say, I have to use my time wisely.
Things I enjoy: I enjoy taking my son to the park, camping, and on walks. He loves to be outside. I also enjoy supporting my brother in Special Olympic activities. I enjoy reading, writing, helping others, studying, learning new things. In my spare time, I like to chat on facebook, read magazines, text, etc.
Books that I enjoy reading are biographies. My favorite author is Dave Pelzer, who wrote books such as: "A Child Called It" , "The Lost Boy", and "A Man Named Dave". I enjoy reading these types of books because I can relate to them and find them interesting.
I enjoy writing poems. I think it is a good way to express your thoughts, opinions, and ideas on paper. I have wrote alot of poems in high school, that I have kept. I havent written any recent ones, if you know how much energy a two year old has, you would understand.
I expect to learn and absorb as much as I can in this College Writing class to become a better reader and writer. I look forward to meeting all my fellow classmates and getting to know Ms. Chastain better.... So far she seems like a great teacher!!!! Its okay I already know you dont give extra credit... :)
Hi Jessica
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. (And thank you for the compliment) I'm amazed by how much you have taken on and excelled. You definitely have your work cut out for you. I'm amazed you have time to sleep.
I would be interested in reading some of the poems you have written in the past if you would like to share.
I am also a fan of Dave Pelzer. I have read the first book in the series.
Ms. Chastain
Ms. Chastain,
ReplyDeleteThank you, yes it is a chore. I dont know how I really manage either but I do. Let me locate some of those poems since we are in the process of moving and I will share some with you! May post them on here also. You should keep reading the Dave Pelzer books because it follows him throughout his entire life up until now.. he is still alive and very successful.
